The Earth Rises in Anger

The party arrived to witness a world transformed.

What was once a humble volcanic island had erupted skyward—over 200 feet tall, wreathed in ash, lightning, and fury. The land churned. The skies wept fire. And beneath it all, the Ruk’tai—displaced and desperate—worked tirelessly in FEMA-style camps, rescuing kin and grieving what was lost.

But the party did not linger to help.

Drawn onward by the Seed’s purpose and the rising volcano’s mystery, they turned away from the Ruk’tai and their cries—a silence born of purpose, or evasion.

Temple from the Deep

Further around the volcanic slopes, the sea had delivered up something: a temple of coral-crusted black stone of the Seafolks.

There, three Dragonborn cultists performed rites in service to their shattered queen in Avernus.

While the party debated action, Toby cast Silence, blanketing the ritual in void. With no warning or voice to cry for aid, the cultists were swiftly and efficiently eliminated—no sound, barely any resistance.

The Messenger at the Maw

At the volcano’s base, she stood waiting: Seara Windtreader, proud Nimbus Rider, cloak flared by the wind, the Nimbus Tuft trailing cloud behind her.

Her voice cut through the storm:

“Imogen. Come now. The herd has called. The storm remembers. You are needed.”

Imogen, torn between paths, hesitated. Persuasion faltered.

Then a spell was castCharm.
Seara’s will softened, her clarity clouded. She agreed to wait.
She smiled, but it wasn’t real. Her truth had been quieted like so many others.

Session End: Silent Lies

  • The Ruk’tai’s plight was witnessed—and passed by.
  • Tiamat’s cultists died voiceless on a shrine unshrouded by the tide.
  • Seara’s warning was pacified by enchantment.
  • The volcano rages ever higher as the very foundations of the earth are rising up.
  • The Seed’s delivery nears.

Silent lies pave the way forward—intentional or not.
